I think she's playing a dangerous game here honestly. She's built up a fanbase of EOPs over the past year who, outside of collabs, expect streams to be 99% English. If she switches to using 75/25 EN to ID then I think there are going to be a lot of unhappy Merakyats. I do hope it's just the ID donation platform opening and her responding to some of the new ID donators, but realistically she's not going to get much money from that platform either way. I really hope she goes back because I think she is going to filter her older members/donators hard (and cultivate a more poorly behaved chat).

I don't know a bit of Indonesian at all but I can't say I've ever been completely filtered by it. If she goes 100 percent Indo then that would cause issues, but even a 50/50 swap should at least be fine with anyone who actually gives a shit about her. Hell, we live in a world where you got EOPs who're fans of JP girls that they don't understand a bit of what they're saying.

I wouldn't go that far (after all, she's a member of HoloID; it'd be both selfish and unrealistic to expect her to not speak some Indonesian as an Indonesian streamer), but there is the aspect of alienating current viewers to consider.

I think it's just a question of finding the proper balance to keep both portions of her audience happy. Sometimes this is as simple as taking the time out to cross-translate for both audiences one way or the other to keep everyone broadly in the loop about what's being said. After all, I hate to say it, but I genuinely felt lost when she was busting her sides over Indonesian dad jokes and I wish I could've understood a bit why she was laughing so hard when it was happening live because it would've made the moment that much better. But that's a me problem, and I don't know how much of the rest of her EOP audience felt the same way in moments like that.

In Royaltea streams there have been a number of instances where she would mention something about plans/permission to do certain streams that struck me as odd at the time. There's no specific instance I can think of right now. It may just be her intonation and language based on a likely history of getting what she wants when she asks for it as an ojou-sama, but there never seems to be a question of whether something she wants to do will be possible. It just always is. It could be nothing or her parents could hold a majority stake in Cover; we'll never know. She's too polite to say that she told M-chan to go fuck herself or that Yagoo bows to her during a stream.

I don't mind Reine speaking a bit more Indonesian to help her connect better with her local audience (if she so desires), even if I don't understand anything myself. Now they have got a painless way to support her monetarily, so it's somewhat of a honeymoon/celebratory period, the increased activity is to be expected. Well, if she was speaking primarily Indonesian, I never would have watched her. If it was an even mix, I might watch her sometimes (I also watch Moona and Risu regularly) but she wouldn't have any sort of shot of me watching every stream or becoming my oshi. It doesn't make sense to me to have an oshi you can't understand without live translators in chat. Since she doesn't have all that much "clippable" content from a clickbait sort of perspective, I'd have no shot of knowing what type of person she is. I'm happy I'm not in that timeline.

I literally missed most of the first month, unless she and Moona were the only ones live, I didn't watch her. Her being online when no one else was and speaking more English when I was able to watch her won me over very quickly afterwards.

I'm a non-indog SEA who worked in something language/culture related, so Reine definitely is relevant to my interests and I have been interested in learning a cousin language for the longest time. She's just what I needed for the extra push to actually do it. Her dorkiness and weirdness are just extra pleasant additions.
