I've slept with tiny dogs nearly my whole life (yeah yeah I know) and I've never rolled over them. I think that if you're aware enough about being next to something while you sleep, at least some people are able to subconsciously stop themselves from moving. I know some people can do this but to stop themselves from waking up their cats.

Nobody cares but it may have to do with proprioception, which stays on even when you're asleep. Same way most adults don't fall out of bed, while kids do because theirs isn't fully developed. You're also supposed to be somewhat paralyzed while asleep, so past a certain age if you're tossing and turning a lot most nights that's probably some sort of sleep disorder.
