Every language is useless unless you need it for a certain reason, which is usually not the case. However, i would say japanese is one of the best choices, especially if compared to your typical european language you "learn" during highschool like french, german, italian or even spanish. Japanase is one of the few language that are useful for learning chinese, which will be the 2nd most important language globally during this century. Also, if you are into anime and that kind of shit i would say its worth trying to learn it, due to the huge amount of media that japanese make an export
