Anon I'm an American who's been to Chile, Argentina, the Falklands, Ireland (pope side and mlk side), Scotland, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, "Russia" (St. Petersburg), Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. Yes, Euros have a better grasp public transport in general, but much like the US it's only in their big cities and even then they have a huge advantage in that a lot of places were built before cars existed. Denmark was the only country I've been to where it was realistic to get around without a car of some kind.

I knew how to drive, but I was unable to get a driver's license until late 20's. For a while I was driving a truck and trailer without a proper license. Eventually I passed the driver's test after being flunked three times by a cunt officer who hated my uncle because he wouldn't fuck her or something.

I recommend grabbing a buddy with a car and going out of city limits to drive country dirt roads. Half of driving is knowing how the car handles. Take it slow until you get a handle of things. Then start going fast. Figure out how speed feels and how long it takes for you to stop at each speed. Then practice turns, backing up, and parallel parking. Course this implies you know the rules of the road first. Driving is fun.

It is done is a specially created course that looks a fucking go play/fake go cart court where they test your ability to act/follow extremely certain etiquette during the course. For instance checking underneath the car on all four sides before you approach the door, looking back and forth in comically exaggerated manners. Looking left and right and checking every mirror possible in even more comically drastic ways every time you are going to turn a corner (so exaggerated it would get you into an accident in real life). There are parts where you need to accelerate to a certain amount and then deaccelerate to a certain speed..... It is just a shit show.
