The only reason why people do this is because they think people will simp more if they think the girl behind the avatar is cute. But the problem with this logic is that if you thought that would be case then you wouldn't have to resort to getting an avatar to begin with if your face and tits are already drawing the crowd. Moreover, majority of the people that watch vtubers already knows what their oshi looks like. It's available info you can find if you use the right keywords. Some ain't cute. They still stay and watch because it ain't about the IRL boobs.

Depends on what the Vtubers appeal is. Some Vtubers (artemis, for example) are carried by their design, and wouldn't be able to survive with out it. other more personality based Vtubers could make it work though I imagine.

There would undoubtable be a drop regardless but I'd reckon some one like Amelia would see a much smaller numbers drop than other chuubas who lean more heavily on their model
