I agree, and it's been a recurring problem. I think might have something like a 2hr minimum target that she set for herself. I'd prefer a 90 minute stream of consistent energy and coherent thought rather than 2+ hours where she's low energy for the later segments and the topics become disjointed fragments.

Youtube required a lot more effort for impromptu streaming. She needs to be at her computer, schedule the stream, make a thumbnail, do the title and description, etc. A twitter space she can start at any time from just her phone. Once she starts using twitch for some streams it will reduce some of the friction, but it still isn't as convenient as twitter spaces. As for short audio clips, it still takes some work to edit a video for youtube. Too bad voice tweets are still iOS only, I bet if they were available on android we would get more audio posts from her on twitter.

I'd suggest for her to seriously look into getting singing lessons, voice acting training, vocal lessons, etc. An in person coach/teacher that she can explain to how she wants to sound, and help her get there is the best way for her to develop her voice into the cool voice she desires. There's not much we can offer her in directions as non-experts on the internet. Even the hololive idols she looks up to have vocal coaches and singing teachers.

It's not expected, but it's what she would need to do if she wants to improve. Vtubing is her only big hobby, and she also makes money from this hobby. She can treat voice stuff as another one of her investments into her vtubing hobby, just like her streaming gear and assets. Also she will gain new useful skills in singing and voice work if she pursues them. She can also easily use any singing skills she develops in her social life, she can impress her eventual university friends during karaoke. Who said it needs to be 3 hrs two times per week? It can be something like 1-1.5 hours one time per week, and one or two cool voice practice or singing practice streams per week. She can do that easily, especially if her schedule continues to stay open enough for her to do two streams on some days. Nobody is suggesting her regular voice is bad, an she herself has said she wanted to work on her "cool" lower voice for both speaking and singing. About not wanting to sing, you must've realized by now that despite first impressions, she can be really self-conscious about appearing "cringe". something must've convinced her that her singing is cringe between the last singing stream and now, because she used to be eager to sing, even if she had to use a janky setup that involved picking up an iPad's speaker over her microphone because her Macbook couldn't capture desktop audio. I think she has a nice voice, and that she could develop it well if she tried to. I really believe in this youkai, and I really think it's something she has the power to accomplish.

On the subject of friends, developing her voice could be a nice confidence booster, and a skill she can transfer into her daily life. It she was confident in her voice, she could lean on that in social situations like karaoke. Also, if she takes lessons that puts her in an environment where she will meet other girls who also want to get better at those types of things, and those girls have a higher chance of being fans of idols.

all audio electronics have what would be called "self-noise", so any software gain would increase the self-noise. that's why it's better to use hardware gain control if you have it.

Does this mic have any hardware setttings on it?

I can hear a hint of noise with only one noise suppression filter.

Can she force her mic into mono mode? Sometimes it sounds like the volume of each channel isn't matched, and one channel is sounds louder than the other sometimes.

I think upgrading her mic to a dynamic mic like the SM58 would solve her problems with background noise.

It will sound better if she turns the gain down and sits closer, it will help separate the noise from the signal which is her voice in this case.

You want the gain as low as possible, and be close to the mic so that your voice is louder compared to the background.
