I don't have any mods as of yet, but if I were to have someone, it would probably be one of the people who have been around the longest and consistently show up often. Since they will know the vibe of what is/isn't allowed, and I can count on them being there. But I won't ask them directly, I'll say I'm considering getting a mod and see if they offer.

My first mod was because they volunteered during a bot raid, and they'd been a decent chatter before then. I'd been happy using 0 mods except bots until that point, but it was a hassle to deal with the bots, and he mods for someone else I watch, so knew he'd be alright

Second mod was because I was doing a collab in an odd time, so my normal mod couldn't make it. I put the offer in my discord, and she was the only one to apply.

Third mod is my IRL brother, but only granting it to him if I need to. He's normally in stream, but minimal volume and in another window, so not actively watching.

My favourite streamer, quite possibly my oshi (from a few months ago, at least), inspired me to start streaming. She had so much fun with it, and I thought I'd give it a go. I enjoyed it, so kept it up.

I've always watched her streams, but I'm kind of passive, in that I just tend to lurk. I shilled myself in her discord, and she deleted the post, and then tweeted "Why does anyone think it's okay to never post in my chat or discord, and then advertise in my spaces? Clout chasers are the worst".

Earlier that week, I'd posted in her discord (it was her birthday) "I love chilling in your streams, I tune in every day when I'm at work, and it helps make the day go faster, I just wish I was able to also chat, because this is a great place".

I have since unsubbed, unfollowed, and left the discord.

If you weren't chatting much in the server and dropped your link in the general chat in the discord, it would feel a little bit leech-y. It sucks, but imagine a big server and everyone self promoted.
