It really is a good thing. Nothing against jrpgs (I play them myself), but it's apparent they aren't prime streaming material but a significant debuff for various reasons (long, which puts off the casual watcher, boring gameplay, narrative focus means you're lost if you didn't watch it all from day one, etc.), and overdoing that runs the risk of burning yourself out and your audience.

I'm elated to hear she's going to do more shorter games and from more varied genres. Shorter is good because that means more people can hop on when there isn't a big "time investment" you have to make, and you get more games done in the same timespan, instead of being stuck on part 375 of the same rpg series, so that opens up more possibilites for variety. And as she's trying out new different genres, she can broaden her horizons and hopefully find more stuff she likes.

It does have a difficulty selection (which mainly affects combat), you can save anywhere, and while there are some tricky platforming segments, it being 2D instead of 3D and not having to fight the camera also should help. She's definetly not going for 100% collection which would be actually hard, and chat can also backseat her through when she's getting lost.
I'd worry more about Alice:Madness returns, I remember it back in the day it was quite janky at times and it being 3D can make some of the harder platforming challenging.

JRPG streams will definetly happen again and not go away forever, just that she said wants to take a little break and there's nothing in the genre that immediatly catches her interest as a must-play-now game, and I applaud her for that reasonable approach because otherwise she'd be forcing herself to play something she's not really into, just to keep up appearances.
Well, that and you know the usual permission stuff. Maybe she is interested in some jrpgs, but it takes a while / is too much of a pain in the ass to get permission for, and the unplayed stuff they have currently permissions for now is "only" FFxiv (fuck off, omegatranny) and Nier:Repl, both of which she's not too hot on. Maybe something comes out of her being recommended Valkyria Chronicles multiple times, maybe she's going to play Yakuza 0 next (it was on the poll, after all), or maybe (a man can hope) she loosens her graphics autism and plays some of the more retro classics of the genre, like Chrono Trigger, a short and sweet game that's beloved for good reasons.
