You can also have more than one oshi with a leaning towards one.
There's no real rule to being a fan of vtubers or anything, but something like getting a favorite happens naturally.

The oshis that actually stuck with me even to this day were the ones I didn't even have to think about.
The ones I put more than 1 minute thought into never lasted for more than a couple days at best until they were replaced with another girl.
Maybe you're having problems because those girls aren't actually oshi material to you.

I don't have "an oshi" because I can't conceive the idea of one streamer being so in tune to you that you dedicate yourself to them.
I watch content I like. That involves about 10 different tumours and I don't watch any of them religiously.

I'm not the kind to form social bonds or attachments, so no oshi for me, and I really don't care to find one either. Just not relevant to my interests. I do have a handful of favourites, but the way I usually enjoy vtubers is by channel hopping. When I feel like catching a stream, I browse through the ones that are currently on, and when I find one that's interesting, I stick around 'til the end.
The Niji threads here and on /jp/ are great since they're constantly posting links to upcoming and current streams, but I'll watch Holos, 774, indies etc. if Youtube happens to push them in my recs at an opportune moment. The only reason I've never caught a Vshojo stream live is because I barely ever visit Twitch, but I've seen a couple of Ironmouse VODs and enjoyed them too.
