Himitsu Kano is a pretty good fit, though she does sing a pretty good variety of things. Has a tendency to go in hard on every song, as shown by how growly she gets on the chorus of This is Me. She's very akin to P!nk, though, so you are going to get a lot of rock ballads.

yeah their throat is their main tool so it's always better for them to take care of it I can wait
on Azki i'm glad that the song with Suisei is being arranged by RD sounds, I've been a huge fan of their Touhou arranges for a long time

>> No.11467933

>>11467396
They did Without U for her first album, which was an amazing track, and a bunch of songs, both 2hu and some originals with nayuta, so I have high hopes. AZKi mentioned that she found writing a harmony particularly challenging when talking about the song in a member's post, but she did a great job with that SorAZ song she wrote.

>> No.11468690

Seems like she's giving her colleagues some chance to grow. Not sure if retweets alone are enough to pull and share the audience as Himitsu didn't reach her goal.
She also tweeted horses days before she became sick conveniently coinciding with Kano's endurance stream which provides room for doubt for her fever. The throat however I believe as the bee participated in the event and did multiple guerillas in the same week.

>> No.11468980

>>11468690
If they wanted to try and direct her viewers to her colleagues, they'd have them do collabs on her channel or shout them out at the end of a stream, not rely on people following her Twitter. Hachi also does seem to love to sing to an audience, given how often she'd do guerillas, so I doubt she'd happily let them tell her not to stream.

>> No.11469828

>>11468980
Noripro levels of shilling should work, so far her only collabs with the other Live Union girls were either MVs, streams in the other girls' channels, streams from REALITY preYT which is ancient history and she wasn't pulling thousands during that era.
A duet or two on her channel shouldn't be that hard to arrange. Megalight Production, a newer company already have more duet streams than the bee's youtube.

>>11469828
Yea, and all of her collabs have been on other people's channels except the one Golden Week one with Ruri. She hasn't even done an internal duet cover in the modern era, which is why I seriously doubt that management is doing anything at the moment either. They seem to be very hands off, but Taya has been doing her Twitter reps for a bit now so maybe we'll see her embrace her senpai role and invite them in the near future, since it's probably intimidating as fuck for the other girls to try and ask her these days.

>> No.11471674

>>11468690
I think it is more likely that her throat deserves rest. It is her most important thing.
It would be unfortunate if the way the sings is too strenuous for her vocal folds, but she is at the point where she needs to preserve her voice rather than doing 24-hour streams for exposure like smaller vsingers do.

That's a neat trick they do with the chorus, where the first time around they have AZKi sing the lead and the 2nd has Suisei do it. Writing something that they could both do and sound good on would totally fit the challenge that AZKi was talking about.

And if you want to be pedantic, Enna isn't comfortable working in the lower parts of her range as shown by how how off she sounds during at the start of Gurenge, where she sounds very squished as she's trying to go lower then she can. She's also a tad nasally on the belts that follow at 34:50ish and again at 35:35ish, which is especially problematic for that type of song since it's all about the power behind the notes. In addition, her falsetto at 36:00 when she goes to extend her range is a very rough transition. At 36:15 she completely flubs the note, but she does good a job of recovering. She then completely gives up at 36:30, and her voice cracks at 36:41. She then fucks up yet again at 36:51, and shows off how rough her falsetto is when going through the following chorus at 36:55, with it happening back to back. She also doesn't go for the hold at 37:05, instead aborting out early on the most iconic part of the song. At this point, she straight up says that she's not practiced on the non anime-OP parts of it, and I'm not going to bother finishing out pointing out the problems. I'm sure I could nitpick more about the other songs if I wanted to go back and listen to them again. Of course, all this doesn't mean that she's not a good singer and I wouldn't enjoy listening to her, but let's not pretend like she's some gift from God and you're not just being a contrarian fuck who doesn't respect IRyS because of her being in Hololive.

This is like analyzing Gura's unpracticed Lemon instead of Baka Mitai. Your opinion is embarrassingly one-sided and should be discarded.

Enna just made history among corpo vtubers with the enka song, like how Chima once did with opera songs.

But even outside of that, it is a fact that Irys has pathetic higher notes, and she wouldn't be able to pull off what Enna just did.

As in singing it well. Chima wasn't the first of hololive or nijisanji to sing opera, but when she did she blew people away. A lot of vsingers, such as Shiki (who is a very good singer), have sung Lilium, for instance, but they invariably sing it like other pop songs, while Chima uses proper operatic techniques and you just know you are hearing the real thing.

Same thing here for Enna. I went back and compared her rendition with that of Hachi, Mair, Watame, Kanata, Hayase Sou and others. Only Enna gives a semblance to traditional singing. Listen to where Enna sang the climactic "yama ga moeru" (around 1:17 of the song).
https://youtu.be/4eTbqidnfdU?t=78

That is a very delicious sound you will rarely ever hear in modern pop, but is the staple of traditional Asian music, including Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean music.

Of course, this doesn't mean Enna is as great a general singer as Hachi (most certainly not), and Hachi probably didn't spend as much time looking into enka singing. But among vsingers, what she did there was historic, and even laypeople who don't know anything about kobushi could tell how different she sounds.

None are ever going to be perfectly flawless, and that's certainly okay, no one is even amongst the biggest mainstream singers, especially when doing live singing without any audio engineers around to help like during a karaoke stream. People talking about why they like or dislike certain singing, however, isn't inherently pointless since it can give you a greater appreciation for what's being done and something to listen, as well allowing people to say if you like X, you might like Y because they're similar. It only really becomes a problem when it stops being a discussion, or even a well presented criticism, and starts just being lazy shitposting about how X is bad. However, while few of the people talked about in this thread are reaching those limits, there is an inherent limit to everyone's ability in that you can't train a wider range then your voice can go, for example, just practice to be able to more accurately use what you have, since your sound is going to inherently change when you use a falsetto. Certain aspects of singing are very much a gift of God thing, even if you can probably sing 99% of the popular songs without being particularly blessed.

Straight overall comparisons are sometimes possible when there is a big gap, like Amelia and Suisei. But among the top vsingers, it is overly reductionist and pointless to make a broad comparison like "Hachi is a better singer than Chima", when they can do different things better. Yet, when you make the comparison more specific, like a certain song or genre, then a better picture emerges, and people can learn the differences between singers, as well as what they like. For instance, Chima is good at ballads, but perhaps not the best at fast generic jpop (e.g. Seikan Hikou).

Singers also don't grow that fast. Marine and Watame have done a lot of singing, but their pitch control problems are kinda still there.

>> No.11549224

Neither of them take karaoke very seriously, which is a fine mentality if you're up front about it. Watame didn't have any problems doing her Live, until she ran out of stamina because she's a hikki who lives on potato chips, and the fact we could hear that degradation suggests to me that it was both not prerecorded nor heavily handled by audio processing. She also did a good job during Fes, even if that was just a handful of songs. Marine's only ever really done group songs, or Ahoy, during important events that she was serious for, which makes it harder to judge since Ahoy isn't a particularly flashy song. I did like her duet with Kanata of Uchiage Hanabi during the latter's 3D, but they also managed to make everyone on that stage sound decent so who knows how much of that was studio magic and multiple takes. However, the fact that Kanata wasn't perfect during it either suggests to me that it wasn't heavily processed.

When they reek of filters on not only one song but the entirety of their karaoke streams, timestamps reach a point where they're redundant that only deaf anons can't hear it (in namirin / IRyS case it's not filters but nasal, her nasal is bad and upward 99% cases of nasal equal BAD). Two samples are girls from ML Production (MLP a very fitting name).

You will see anons contradicting themselves within two sentences, quoting

Also quoting

Interpreted for easier understanding:

Here, since you don't seem to be able to read things, anon, highlighted the important part of that post disagreeing with the one it's quoting. Some people tend to attack each note individually rather then having a smooth continuous voice, and she seems to fall in the former camp. You can hear her let up for just a millisecond when she's enunciating a word and has to change notes, which is a great indicator of that.

Yeah no. Chima is like... the last person I would ever associate with "power singing". I think the word you are searching for is resonance. Chima has more resonance in her belting than Irys. She sounds louder without actually resorting to shouting, that's resonance.
Also, different audio settings. Chima has more reverb and Irys more compression, the difference isn't much. Irys belt with more chest and chima belt with more head. Imma check Irys' other karaoke myself.

I get a very distinct feeling that you are talking about Chima's old audio setups which are nigh unlistenable. I checked and yes those had a lot of reverb. In which case I should tell you to keep up with the times. She changed the setup about Aug 9. Her new karaokes sound crystal clear.

>>11617552
>She sounds louder
And that is part of what I mean. Irys doesn't achieve the kind of volume (or more accurately contrast in volume) to wow people over.
Another example is Cry Baby:
Irys https://youtu.be/DFw5thNgk88?t=80
Suisei https://youtu.be/6XAIPdoELgI?t=1546
Enna https://youtu.be/tcdIZbEpmd4?t=86

Even after taking Enna's echo / reverb into account (and Suisei using comparatively less), Irys alone made me fail to notice it is the chorus of the song, with so little contrast in volume. Whether she can fix it with practice or better audio setup is up to her, but that was not a great cover.

Irys' and suisei's timbres are similar, light feathery soprano. The belting part falls Into their middle range. The only difference here is Suisei knows how to compress like rock singers in her middle and upper range albeit lightly.
Enna's voice is deeper and darker she has lower tessitura than these two. The belting part falls into her upper range.
While Enna need to belt that part, Irys and Suisei singing it like walking in the park. It's not because Irys and Suisei are better as singers, they're just born with higher speaking/chest voice.

Grammar aside, if by walking in the park, you mean Suisei effortlessly rocked that part while Irys effortlessly did ASMR whispering, then I concur.
We have seen lower voice types before, like with Hana. There is little need to say the same thing 5 times in different ways to hit a target word count.

I didn't care to repond to this earlier but you're wrong. At least learn what words mean before trying to police people. Power represents volume and resonance represents boosted harmonics. Resonance and twang are part of singing with power using less effort. That's why teachers teach such skills instead of letting students strain their vocal cords for more power.
In the end the listener hears Chima achieve a louder and richer tone. Since you already agreed she sounds louder, we have nothing more to say about it.

Also, cry baby as a song isn't even that high and difficult for sopranos.
The original male vocal is all belting, because these are indeed high notes for males. Enna having lower tessitura means she can sing it in a similar manner like males do, while Irys can't. If Irys want to belt it, she just need to raise the key even higher. How am I the one who is trolling? It's not me who said "Power singing Chima" meme. Irys herself has flaws like lack of resonance and throat tensions, I won't dispute that. Vocal range is not the same as tessitura, it's your tessitura + extended supported range.

And one can find people who rock stadiums that would make them sound like sissies in comparison. The original point is Irys' lacking output, illustrated in a song sung by another singer as a comparison. It doesn't mean that other singer is the loudest singer in the world, or even principally known for being loud.

The only thing that put me off is when you said Chima is "power singing", when she only has few things to tick of the boxes. Just because Chima is louder and more resonant than Irys, doesn't mean what she's doing is "power singing".

I gave Ado and Suisei's names because they know how to compress. For Suisei maybe she accidentally did it, since I don't hear it in her other range.
But for Ado, I'm 100% sure she can since she has demonstrated it with varying intensity. https://youtu.be/1OI4Bp8fGYw Ado's intense vocal compression mixed with vocal fry.
What's the difference between head resonance like Chima, and power singing? Here's this guy demonstrating it around 13:50
https://youtu.be/DG0sCeVfr_Y
He went from head resonance to head resonance with compression.
Even this guy's mixed voice when he demonstrated "head resonance" has more chest voice in them than Chima's mixed voice.

I know people like to throw around "power singing" carelessly.

That is not a "just". That is the entire point. The rest is your pure autism.
You are trying very hard to make sure singing with power is something Chima did not do, even though you admit Chima is louder and more resonant.

That is where it is misguided. When you yourself use words like "chest voice", I know it is an outdated term with no agreed-upon definition among vocal pedagogists, but it is popular and I can guess through the context which definition they mean. That is called communication, trying to understand others when there is inconsistency in terminology. You are doing the opposite. You assume singing with power has some particular definition, based on no authority. The popular usage of "power" refers to volume or loudness, and resonance helps with it. Nobody gave you the authority to stop people from using it in that way, just like how I have no authority to stop you or anyone from using your own terminology. Rather we will just have to live with trying to understand what others mean.

>Vocal power is a singer's ability to sing at a loud volume or dynamic."
Did you get that from Ramseyvoice?
If you scroll lower it says
>If you push for more volume, you could end up straining your voice or yelling
Not all loud volume are good for the voice, then it also tells you need more than just volume, listing
>The interaction of your breath and vocal cords
See? It takes more than just the resonance chamber of the pharynx, resonance is just one of the elements of what it takes to have power. Resonance allows you to be loud, but it's incomplete without everything else.
Breath pressure, controlling the air, etc everything you need for power are there in the glottal compression technique.
Chima only has resonance, which by itself ain't bad.
Chima is like the Kristin Chenoweth to Ado's idina Menzel in defying gravity. Both of them are resonant, but she's not the one with power. Are we done? Maybe. Imma going back watching vtubers

Now you are just repeating what I said when I said "Resonance and twang are part of singing with power using less effort."
Power = volume. Resonance is part of it. Chima has more volume than Irys.
>not the one with power
This statement only makes sense in a comparison with something else. My comparison was with Irys. Chima is the one with power in comparison to Irys. You keep insisting on comparing Chima to something else. That is your singular obsession from the start, instead of comparing to Irys who is the original point. I believe this is the third time you've done so. It seems you will never stop doing it.

Anon the source you are taking was literally said it takes more than just volume.
People who can power sing obviously has resonance. People who has resonance doesn't automatically make them able to do power sing, the comparison of Kristin and Idina is to illustrate that. It also requires different mechanism than simply singing with resonance chamber only like Chima. If it requires different mechanism then it's a separate thing. Just like how inhale screaming and exhale screaming are two separate things due to different mechanism despite using pretty much the same vocal parts.

>taking was literally said it takes more than just volume
It says that you can use different techniques including resonance, proper breathing or pushing your vocal cords (bad) to achieve volume. Volume isn't a singular technique but a goal that be achieved in multiple ways. Volume is power.

Why did you keep oversimplifying it like that, when your own source is very careful and elaborate about it? I doubt you know what resonance is before I stated it here>>11617552 This might lead to nowhere, there's tomorrow and the day after tomorrow

Fuck... I hate this.
For some reason she was the first React girl I found. I liked her old model and the gap between her funny speaking voice and singing voice. The new model was so shit I stopped watching her, only tuning in to listen sometimes.
What's going on with them anyway? Why did some of React girls start graduating one by one?

They’ve been always like that, this is a graveyard. Most vtubers that have graduated from their company reappeared as indies a few months later and became even more successful than before. So probably vtubers see those examples and decide to go indies, no one wants to pay a cut for nothing, especially if the only promotion they receive is one original song a year.

>Ramseyvoice : Vocal power is a singer’s ability to sing at a loud volume or dynamic.
>Ramseyvoice : So vocal power means singing with a lot of volume, right? That’s easy!
>Also Ramseyvoice : Well, not so much.

He outright denied that oversimplified claim, volume = power.

>Ramseyvoice : Vocal Power = Breath + Muscle.
There you go. Do you know what glottal compression is about? Keeping the air pressure on the glottal area of the muscle.

The resonance chamber isn't talked about by Ramseyvoice, probably because it's the most basic thing below power singing, and he assumed you already know this stuff.

Again you fail at reading comprehension so much. He didn't write the latter parts to contradict his definition of power = volume. Rather, he denies that singing with volume is easy. He tells people not to naively push their vocal cords and shows people proper techniques to achieve volume instead. Stop assuming a writer would contradict oneself after one sentence. Especially when that sentence is written in bold for emphasis. That is the next level of denial. I believe I spend half the time trying to explain how you fail at reading comprehension while you think nobody else knows about music.
Vocal power is a singer’s ability to sing at a loud volume or dynamic. If you just push for more volume, you could end up straining your voice or yelling. Those statements are written in bold, and not refuted.

I know, I literally said this posts ago
>it takes more than just volume.
It was YOU who oversimplified it
>Volume is power. >>11721840

>Ramseyvoice : Vocal Power = Breath + Muscle.
The relationship between resonance and power singing is vertical, not horizontal. You implied Chima is more advanced than she actually is. She still stays at resonance level, she has not stepped yet into power singing.
That's the natural progression after learning resonance. In the Chris Liepe video, he doesn't even spoon feed you again about resonance. Neither does that Matt Ramsey when he explained power.
Both focused on breath and (glottis) muscle.
