Like I said, there's plenty around and I'm not disagreeing that males can make it, it's just that including Bahroo and anyone who had thousands upon thousands of viewers with a streaming career that goes back a decade isn't really fair when there's plenty of others who actually built their viewership on vtubing. There's more I'm sure I just can't think of them off the top of my head like these.

Attention all Vtubers! This is your new mom speaking!
Throw away all pride. Throw away all pride and just pander. Pander to the lowest common denominator. Eat chocolate bunnies if you have to. That is my advice. Drink breast milk, yeah, just drink breast milk. Just throw away your pride and drink the breast milk.

Nyanners had a decade of internet fame to build that youtube channel to nearly a million subscribers before she even became a Vtuber, so it's not really a fair comparison.

Youtube has zero discoverability tools or features.
If you wanna pull in views, you have to game the system, what every big channel does and why the main page of youtube has nothing but garbage videos like clickbait.
Whatever twitch has for their discoverability algo just works, mainly because twitch has always been a livestream website instead of a video hosting one.

it's only been disproved as far as youtube has objectively been shown to be better. you faggots only look at LIVE streams but never give shits about vods and content creation. youtube's algorithm is vastly better and they save all your videos.

you're repeating the same bullshit that early era /auds/ repeated of "just make content and grind a ton and you'll make it" make content smarter, not harder. twitch only lasts for 2 weeks and you MUST be live in order to grow, otherwise you don't get anything. youtube is where you can generate passive growth and the more you focus there, the more grow you build up over time. compounding interest, faggot. learn it.

You need to specify then. This thread has a year long history of watching Youtube vtubers stagnate while growing on twitch. I'm not sure if that's exactly what he's saying. From what I can gather he's saying that youtube discoverability exists, which is not untrue. It should be utilized, but it's a lot of work to both stream and create video content for youtube. One could technically achieve growth by going all in on either only streaming on twitch, or only creating videos on youtube. Both is difficult, and it's understandable that not many can do this. You'll see less growth only streaming on youtube and cannot create videos on twitch. I suppose there's also twitter and tiktok content creation.

All platforms should be considered, but it's a matter of how much a single person can invest on their own.

Because Twitch has had nothing but bad PR the past couple years. YT in the past 6 months or so has made minor improvements. Lots of "experts" are telling streamers to ditch Twitch because it's the "in-thing" to dunk on Twitch.
The main argument is that Twitch doesn't promote anyone, but YT does. But many people fail to consider the fact that YT isn't a livestream platform and lacks many of the basic functionalities Twitch has.
If you do some simple browsing or a search, you'll see there's a shockingly low amount of streams at any given time for popular games. Anyone with a notably high number is an established creator, Hololive, or Nijisanji.
Algorithm wise on YT, smaller streamers are invisible for me and I never get them showing up in my feeds. I watch VTubers all the time on YT. All I see is Hololive and Niji.
A lot of so called "experts" will keep telling new streamers (and VTubers) that YT will promote them via algorithm if their content is good. But the overwhelming evidence says otherwise.

>if their content is good
If the algo recognizes their content as good, which it won't since the algo only gets numbers, and bad ones too.
The view tracking on youtube is and has always been pathetically bad. It discounts you if you're tabbed away, below a certain volume, blocking ads (even with their paid service for doing so)... Probably more.
So you need about 100 pairs of eyes that youtube recognizes as "viewers" regardless of your real viewer count to even be considered to be recommended to anybody in any circle on the yt algo.
YT will NOT help you grow if all you do is stream on it. It won't help your streams grow period if it's the only place you stream. You need to make content specifically for the website that you can share elsewhere that will get promoted in the algo, and most chuubas don't, won't, or can't do that.

Ayy... don't be afraid to take a nap, 4 hours isn't quite enough.
1) Finding Vtubers got me to break my lurker shell that I had crafted over the course of more than a decade of browsing this website. I hadn't interacted with a "community", be it here or elsewhere, for probably more than 15 years at this point, from websites long, long ago.
2) Thanks to the coof, I couldn't do physical exercise reps for a long while. Thanks to Ina, and now several indies, I have been able to redirect enough energy out of the day to actually do my lifting reps, sparse as spare energy is.
3) I really, really wish I could draw. All of the artfriends in the chuubasphere, both /here/ and elsewhere, really inspire me. I love the feeling that seeing art someone drew for someone else gives, and the ability to give those feelings to others is a tantalizing prospect.
4) Lifting reps, edit reps. Lifting reps are in stasis, for numerous reasons, but edit reps have got me impassioned again. It might be a paltry substitute for actual art, but I'll take what I can get.

Do you think watching too many streams is to blame? I eventually had to limit how many streams I watch and now I catch people when I can. Pushing yourself to be too involved in the community makes things really overwhelming.

Oh gosh. Vtubers also broke my lurker shell. The first chat I talked in was Corpse's chat, and only after a week of watching her. I made an account and it took me so long to press enter. I am very happy that I did.

Redirecting your energies is very important. Ina really inspired so many people...

>I really, really wish I could draw.
I will not say, "just pick up a pen!" Like most people do, but that drawing is the result of lots of practice. You do not have to be an expert immediately, either. It gets hard to not compare yourself to people who have years of experience (in my case, at least) but remember to enjoy the process. Just drawing little things you enjoy can build up that skill over time.

Hey, editing reps are worth their weight in gold! A very good skill to have. And congratulations on your health reps. WAGMI.

Good morning ayylium. Hope your energy keeps up through the day, I've always had problems around midday when only getting 4 hours of sleep.

1. I suppose it's made me a lot more open minded about things, on top of the usual "being inspired to do my reps" bit. Seeing people of all different sorts from different walks of life either doing vtuber stuff or even just watching vtubers helped me think about things differently.
2. I've been eating better and doing *slight* exercise, though I'm trying to ease myself into doing more intensive stuff. I'm also trying my hand at drawing, re-teaching myself how to sing, and getting back into writing thanks to you. I briefly considered getting into vtubing/streaming myself but I don't think it'll work.
3. Besides the above, probably cooking. It's weird but hearing vtubers talk about things they cooked made me more curious, though it's not really something people stream or make a focus of.
4. I made a little doodle for my oshi. It took way longer to make than it would take any competent artist, but it turned out okay and she seemed to like it so it was worth the time.

What's a hobby (you) picked up because of vtubers? Was it something you had a previous interest in that was re-kindled by said vtuber, or something completely new that was brought to light?

YES! I love hearing what reps people gave taken up thanks to vtubing! I will be honest that vtubing is what got me back into reading. I used to tell myself I was 'too busy/tired' to read and write. Now that I am making time for it again, I feel like a part of my heart is healing. I forgot how comforting those activities were in the years I let them fall from my life. But yes, creating things for yourself or your oshi... That feeling is incredible.

Oh gosh, I ended up answering your question ahead of time, bwahaha. Writing and reading, namely, but also singing! I used to sing a ton and then eventually stopped because my voice started to get damaged over the years. Vtubing made me lose that fear of singing and now I find it so much fun! >3) What is one skill that vtubing has made you want to take the time to learn, or at least made you wish you had time to learn?
ART. I wish I had the time (or at least the patience) for art. I can't draw anything that looks remotely respectable enough to share on the internet, I think.
>4) What reps have you been working on recently?
I've been working on my kicking-myself-into-actually-doing-what-I-want-to-do reps since I'm my own greatest enemy... I did do something I could feel proud of recently, but again if I said what it was I'd be known and that would be CRINGE.
If you keep asking questions you're gonna wind up as my oshi because it feels like you actually care, about /here/, at least somewhat, and I thought I was alone in that... So what makes you do it? Is it mostly just curiosity?

1. It definitely did. It finally gave me a way for me to express myself tand take streaming seriously.

2. I've picked up my Japanese again to better follow my favorite hololive girls.

3. Improv and singing for sure. I've been attending singing lessons for almost a year but starting from scratch really shows how much I still have left.

4. I've studied really hard with my Japanese and singing and I'm glad I'm able to keep up the habit.

1) Finding vtubers helped me at a difficult point in my life and encouraged me to stop being a NEET and try to live my best life.
2) I have plans to take up hobbies, because other than vtubers, I don't have any right now. But so far it's hard for me to make time, since I'm not used to trying to balance work and...anything else.
3) Singing. Though I'm so shy and have used my voice so little, that that one is going to have to wait till I live somewhere on my own and can get soundproofing for a room...
4) Only work reps so far. I also got my driver's license. Both are things I thought I'd never do, so I guess I'm proud of myself.

>1) Did finding vtubers help you in any significant way? For example, did it help you learn to socialize, make you take certain things seriously, or help you during a difficult point in your life?
Not really I think vtubing has helped me improve on my video editing skills and other skills/ hobbies in general theres some other darker lore to it but I've already mentioned it once in a past thread.
>2) Were you inspired to take up any hobbies or focus on your reps due to vtubers? If so, tell me about them.
Not really I always had these hobbies and also wanted a way to show them off to other people that might think they're cool.
>3) What is one skill that vtubing has made you want to take the time to learn, or at least made you wish you had time to learn?
Need to relearn to draw so I can draw art of all my favorite indies that don't get much art done of themselves.
>4) What reps have you been working on recently? Has anything made you proud?
Its mainly just been working on a lot of different stuff, but a lot of my more recent stuff I've made has come out pretty good and I would say I'm proud of those.

>1) Did finding vtubers help you in any significant way? For example, did it help you learn to socialize, make you take certain things seriously, or help you during a difficult point in your life?
I think finding vtubers made my life worse in almost every possible way. The only good thing I got back from this obsession is a bunch of new online friends.
>2) Were you inspired to take up any hobbies or focus on your reps due to vtubers? If so, tell me about them.
I guess I started doing edits and drew a bit more.
>3) What is one skill that vtubing has made you want to take the time to learn, or at least made you wish you had time to learn?
Drawing, but good.
>4) What reps have you been working on recently? Has anything made you proud?
Edits, edits that bring shame to me, my family and my nation.

I like these posts, they're always fun

>Did finding vtubers help you in any significant way?
It's introduced me to some very creative people, and provided me with a creative outlet myself.

>Were you inspired to take up any hobbies or focus on your reps due to vtubers?
It gave me a good reason to get back into video editing, which I love doing but I hadn't really worked on since graduating college a couple years ago.

>What is one skill that vtubing has made you want to take the time to learn, or at least made you wish you had time to learn?
Art. I've done some practice but it'll probably look terrible for a while. It's also made streaming look really fun, but I don't think I could dedicate the time needed to do that right unless I gave up a lot of other things (or sleep).

>What reps have you been working on recently? Has anything made you proud?
I have a couple clip comps I'm working on, I'm trying to get better at doing the motion tracking for the little "skits" I like to add into comps.
The most proud I've been of stuff I've worked on recently was when someone posted one of my videos here, which might be kinda sad to be honest.

The time investment is the big hurdle I have on trying to pick up drawing. The lifting reps, a whopping 3 times a week for 60-75 minutes a pop, are already a large swath of the "free" time I have. You probably can already peg who I am, so I don't need to elaborate what my primary time consumer is, but actual art reps will require much more dedication and persistence than I can feasibly dedicate, even for short stints a day. I'll exercise my creative impulses with edits and haikus, apparently, and praise our local artfriends for their hard-won fruits.

>How did you stop telling yourself that?
It is easier to stop telling myself that for vtuber things because I get a tangible benefit from doing them when I see my streams improve or show a friend my art, or designs. But I find it really difficult for my irl reps! I stopped cooking as much and I stopped running everyday, aha. These are little things I started working on, and why I tend to take so many breaks. Honestly, I think maybe over time it gets easier to balance but I still have a lot of trouble with it.

Oh gosh. I was in a social black out until I found vtubers. I am super glad you gained confidence! It took vtubers to help me find that again, myself. I am so thankful.

>There is a burning flame in me screaming at me to be a better content creator, and I am somewhat afraid of it.
As long as the flame is not destructive, I say give it a bit of space to grow. Take hold of that creative spark and let it move you. I have written more this year than ever, and I have vtubing to thank! Even if I were not a streamer myself, I was already writing cringe /here/fanfic that will never see the light of day! So I also empathize with your feelings on art...

You are making me so curious as to your motivations... But I will respect your secrets, aha.

>If you keep asking questions you're gonna wind up as my oshi because it feels like you actually care, about /here/, at least somewhat, and I thought I was alone in that... So what makes you do it? Is it mostly just curiosity?
Aaah, this is so sweet... Thank you, this genuinely makes me so happy. But your oshi should be someone you really want to see succeed no matter what.

Hm. I was always a lurker in most areas of life, but being involved in this community really made me want to be involved. I used to be afraid of lowering thread quality when I became a vtuber, so I made a point of avoiding the threads entirely for the longest time. Eventually I really wanted to join in, though, so I did!
As the other place got more and more busy, I decided to stop by here one day and check and I saw tigerposter asking questions. I thought it was so nice and answered them whenever I stopped by. When tigerposter stopped, and the front desk lost more and more activity, I found myself feeling a bit sad. So I decided to try asking my own questions to help keep things going.

At the time, no one really posted here. It has had moments of activity, like when asp vtubers posted here, but it always felt like an extension of a vtuber social club and then was left shortly after. It felt kind of like an empty house. So I was hoping I could get anons interested in discussing what they love about vtubers as a whole. It has been very fun, and I really like it here!

I tried to do similar things for the other place, but it never seemed to help. Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope that answers it.
