Finally finished the third part of the Flare amnesia fic after rewriting it for god knows how many times. I actually wanted it to be a shorter chapter than the previous two since I intended this to be a bridge between the previous chapter and the next but for some reason I decided to make it even longer than the previous one so there's that.

As for your spoilered bit, the only thing that really felt rushed is the memory recall segment, that felt like a big leap in comparison to the slow paced recollection that the rest of the chapter was going for.
Other than that the pace felt about right with every scene feeling like it fits and gets the breathing room it needs, the 'journey' is the bit I'm liking more than the hints at the 'destination' but given that you're nailing the bits linking it up I'm sure you can stick the landing for this by which I mean the inevitable confrontation with the rest of third gen/Noel.

UrukaPecsAnon here. NOT the person who wrote the story, but the person who requested it. Not Sakana. Not sure how I can prove any of this.

Kiryu Coco was my oshii. We lost her about the time Phase Connect got started, and I was legit done with Vtubers. Still done with Hololive, except for AZKi, who is kind of Hololive, but kind of not. INNK is weird territory. But I tuned in to Uruka because her voice reminded me a bit of Calli. Fell for her from the first stream, a deep voiced chuuba with amazing musical chops and streams far different from your usual gaming streams.

Being a hardcore Tatsunoko, I ended up hating China, as a whole, for what they did to Coco. So I got serious agita when Uruka started singing Chinese songs. Her cheerfully greeting her Tiawanbros, though, on a recent stream, kind of restored my faith in a lot of things.

Hyper female muscle is my fetish. It's obscure, but it's relatively harmless compared to a lot of shit out there, even in /pcg/ itself. I guess losing Coco, but seeing her VA (for lack of a better term) thrive, kind of helped me disassociate the Vtuber character from the person who voices them. Like requesting art of your favorite video game character, or anime chick, or comic book babe, etc. I was requesting the character in a story, and if that scares or disgusts you, Uruka, I am deeply sorry. I never meant for you to catch wind of this.

Writeanon did a fucking spectacular job on the story. He did his research, he took what was originally just a fetish thing and made a complex, amazing, funny, sexy, and most of all, compelling story. It stands on its own.

I could not afford Coco's membership. I cannot afford Uruka's membership. I supported Coco the best I could by reporting the fuck out of all the antis who were pirating Beyond the Stage and Bloom. I tried to do my best here as well.

I am a little terrified that she is going to read this out loud and live. I am worried it might upset my new favorite streamer. But writeanon crafted an epic fucking superhero story of humor and redemption. So i will be watching, if I can stay awake.

Uruka, you don't have to acknowledge you're /here/. I don't want to get you into any trouble with the new sect of fans that are helping you incline to be the face of Phase Connect, now knowing the requestor is a Tatsunoko. Writeanons, where do you lean in between realism and absurdity in writing? By realism, I'm not talking about things such as the very existence of your chuuba in the story, since that's the premise. But how important is it that the story behaves as similarly to real life as possible, for you to be satisfied with it? Are you okay with having scenarios that are impossible and don't follow logically play out, all of course, serving to convey what you want? I'm not talking about plot points that are meant to make sense but are poor at doing so. I'm talking about things like having visions of a crab berating you about love every time you walk about at night, supposed to be your way of saying you can only stumble side to side and not move on from a failed relationship. Do you enjoy looking for the meaning behind such nonsense? Or do you committed to adhering to real life in your story to show how vast and interesting it can be if you get to know it?

Or will you... deliver on that prompt where Ame tries hiding a threesome with her pets while streaming Half-Life Alyx? Truly, the possibilities are endless.

Typically I don't like a lot of deviation from the source material; let's say you're writing fanfiction about a group of plumbers and suddenly one of them knows magic out of nowhere and another can shoot lasers out of his ass - don't care how well-established the rules of that universe are, I'm not gonna enjoy it.

Fifth chapter of Anon Finds A Ritual Book! I'm happy to have hit this little milestone, because I honestly thought I would've burned out by now or lost hope in attracting at least one person who might enjoy this.

Criticism is always appreciated as always, even stylistic differences! I'd love to know what you would have wrote in my place, I like to think about possible alternatives to what I can do for my writing. I'm slowly working on expanding my vocabulary though, been reading more smut fics in the archives and trying to learn how to express secks better.

Yea clearly I didn't express what I meant well enough. I think everything the both of you say I can agree with. Best way I can put is imagine a story that plays out exactly like one of your dreams. Surreal events that don't particularly seem to be connected, where it's up to the reader (you) to give meaning to them and decide why they were told in that order.

I was thinking about it since I thought there were two opposite ways a story could go. It could be a grounded piece that shows some interesting aspects to real life you didn't know about and make you realise there's a wealth of inspiration out there to draw from for your stories. Alternatively, there's the story that is more surreal, where each scene is a very metaphorical way of describing the author's emotions or what they want to convey, to the extent that at first, it's not clear they're talking about real life experiences in a very creative way. Particularly, it might go to the extent where they're creating a fantasy, as though to say real life isn't stimulating enough for them, as a kind of rebuttal to the first kind of story.

That said, maybe I'm just talking out of my ass here. It was interesting to read your responses either way.

That sounds like some super complicated shit, the kind of shit I'd expect to hear in English class along with the word "literary devices" (I almost failed high school English by the way).
I try to put a bit of symbolism and metaphors into my story if that's what you mean, and I like to add a bit of foreshadowing too but apart from that I just want to write about my delusional fantasies with chuubas. I don't make it that deep.

Personally, I think the baseline which you should be thinking on when writing a story is how the "willing suspension of disbelief" is set up, just like what the other anons say. In a sense, this is the "baseline" of your story, and you should try not to stray to far away from it. As you've mentioned, if you're writing a story more leaning towards the realities of life, readers would probably expect a mundane real life setting with the interesting aspects being character interactions, etc. Likewise, if you're writing a fantasy story readers would expect magic, dragons, grand adventure, etc. If you're looking to implement symbolisms and metaphors, it's not going to be the easiest thing as you need to thread the "show, don't tell" line, which is much harder in literary works due to the medium being solely a "read/tell" platform rather than show. In any case, I wish you the best of luck, anon.

Didn't get the chance to reply to your last part so I'll do it here now.

First of all, just from reading both parts together, it's really fucking good. Seems like you've got a really good grasp of what you want to happen in each part. Part IV being just fluff was great, and the language never feels too verbose to hamper the pace. I honestly couldn't do a series like yours without smut at any part since I'd have probably created it to fulfil whatever fantasies I had, so props. The whole reasoning behind loving some being higher than you I've heard before, but I think it's pretty great all the same as you try and get specific with how Bae is a goddess of chaos.

"flow into you, your movements..." could probably use an "as" or before "your", since the two ideas feel a bit separate and odd otherwise. A lot of anon's dialogue is pretty good, although at times it feels like something someone might not say like "You've filled my mundane working days with actual excitement", although could just be me.

For Part V, fluff is great here as well. Smut was hot as hell for something as short as it was, which considering the scenario, makes it even better. The ending is also pretty funny and leaves me curious for the next part.

"The combination of the soft warm girl..." felt a bit out of place as impersonal. Maybe just some thing like "Bae's warm body" ? Honestly I don't have much to offer beyond nitpicks. Nor do I think about what I would do differently. I am curious if you have an endgame in mind, since things are rolling pretty smoothly right now. Looking forward to the next one!

Finally beginning a new series, which I hope will hold up as much as my previous works, only this time it's shonen/adventure/grand fantasy and with more action moving forward. For context, I am adopting some concepts from LWA and using the Hologlobe as a rough template for the setting, and I want to use a lot of the Holos in this story. Also, men are the ones discriminated in this world as they can't use magic.

The part I was actually worried about feeling rushed was the beginning part where Flare felt frustrated about her memories. I was afraid I was bordering on melodrama when I wrote it but it seems like people didn't actively dislike it so that's good.
But I agree with you on the memory recall segment. I actually wrote that at the last minute and thought of rewriting it but I just really wanted to get it out there to focus on the next part. I actually rewrote pretty much every part of this chapter, the Flare frustration and the conversation at the bar was entirely rewritten when I first wrote it a couple weeks ago. Hell, Calli wasn't originally in the story but after reading "The three meeting with Mori" I felt a sudden inspiration to put her in and write her.
And yeah, I hope I can stick the landing for the confrontation in a way that feels satisfying and natural. Though that might take a while
