I think it's an older friend (maybe fan) upset at Zen, they made a lot of enemies over the years. Like you said, you'd need a lot of old, old knowledge (2019 and earlier) to really confirm any of this stuff. Like for as frequent a target of shit Zen is she always seems the quickest to open up and try to get people involved in shit and has done the most charity streams than anyone in the group by far. Mostly it's just because of the setup. You spend half an hour getting your tracking calibrated and then if you need to go to the bathroom or answer the door or some shit, it loses calibration and you get to start over, plus your phone is strapped to your head for facial tracking.
2D just requires a phone on your desktop and some hotkeys for animations.
Watch some of codeMiko's setup streams, especially the ones where it doesn't go right, and you can understand why a 2D avatar is appealing.
