EN VTubing was never that entertaining in the first place.
You could argue that maybe Gura was similar to an anime character, but none of the other ENs that have debuted over this 3 year period had had that same "spark" that she had.
The recline of the entire fucking industry coincidentally started once she stopped streaming regularly.

EN VTubers are not entertaining or funny, hence there is only one way to justify watching them, and that's pretending they're e-hostesses.
Western audiences are also extremely selfish, and see the relationship between the oshi and their fan as transactional - just like the rest of their misbegotten lives.
> I pay her, she should pander to me!
And if they "feel" they're not getting their money's worth, they'll start sperging out like irate "customers".
In Japan, a fan always puts their oshi above themselves in all but one scenario -
> lying to their fans
A fan-oshi relationship is one of absolute trust. There IS a somewhat transactional element to it, but instead of it being a materialistic exchange, it's more of a voluntary donation out of passion for what they give us freely.
A transaction has limits. Freely given passion doesn't.
This is also why all the best chuuba fangames were made by fans of JP chuubas.
