A lot of it more that the arcade market is fucked in the US, importers are cringe-y and weird (at best) and Konami doesn't want to deal with actual people trying to operate 25 year old cabs.
For instance if I wanted to buy a normal ass Astro city or something as a private buyer. I'd have to buy a shipping container of Bemani cabs to go with it despite having no interest in rhythm games.
Basically, buy the controllers from a current manufacturer, the old PCBs are bad as I understand it. Play it on a LG oled monitor to keep the input lag low and refresh rate good. Retro gaming is pain past soft emulation.
