Most aren't. Literally, well over 90% of the tens of thousands of them. Hololive are. Hololive specifically are acting out roles for the most part.
Most vtubers are literally just using avatars for streaming instead of facecam, this has always been true, even back in the experimental days.
But the likes of Hololive, Idolbu and a few others others specifically were acting out roles, placing emphasis on the fact.
They have a fucking show for crying out loud.
Sure most of those personas got watered down with their own persona, but they are still roles they play that is no different to a circus performer working 200 days of the year, day in, day out.
Don't think I hate her, not at all, I have massive respect for people that can work under live circumstances while trying to maintain some level of consistent performance.

This site has NEVER been a bastion of free speech. This site has always been a place for the mods (and at the time, moot) to cause drama and shit stir when they are bored. Still happens today.
The only reason you get to shitpost right now is probably no mods are even awake. This has always been a "problem", mod dead hours. Janitors barely changed anything.
