Most CDs come in what's called a "jewel case"
They were always a pain in the ass because they were sealed up real good with plastic wrap. stores would even sell branded "openers" which were just little fob things with a hidden razor you'd swipe across the top.
The cases also broke pretty often because the plastic is brittle and cheap.
Back in the day most people would just put their CDs in a binder/wallet type thing to easily carry many.
