The real reason why the subreddit has declined is that it's been used as karma farming by around 30 people and utterly useless for discussion. People have been fleeing to 4chan and discord for discussion.
/vt/ itself has more 2x posts per day than the largest Hololive fan discord has messages per day. /vt/ + /jp/ is twice as big as it was one year ago and four times as big as mid-2020. Where do you think these people came from? 80% of this board is redditors.
