It's all vibes and luck, people go viral doing all kinds of stupid shit. For a little while the public enemy #1 of Twitter was a guy who would photoshop people into being black or Chinese, and he would respond with "this is what you would look like if you were black or Chinese". A lot of people found it funny, but he made so many people mad that he ended up getting doxed. And what he did he do? (pic related)
