"vtubing" or whatever is its name at any given time is just using a virtual avatar, sure it got a boost with the specific usage "cute anime girl acts as your surrogate girlfriend" (openly or not it's always implied) but like all trends it'll lose traction, already more entertainer types are starting to do well, and later I hope it's not limited to something just weeb-friendly, there are many uses to controle elements of the screen with your body, like just out of my head a heartbeat counter whose data can be linked to an overlay that make the whole overlay on screen more oppressing or start applying corruption artifacts to the whole thing.
Or something with music, hand tracking and mixed reality can get some pretty impressive stuff going on you couldn't get in a live performance on stage.
