because there's no industry in the West yet, cover is working on that though
right now vtubers are not that popular compared to Japan; Marine, Suisei, Penauts-kun, and Kuzuha for example, they're are basically celebrities over there, they have the "idol" status, and some of them are even proud of assuming the role of a cute anime girl, western girls are ironic weebs who are embarrassed of sounding too cute
they're just streamers and most fans are ironic weebs too
there are exceptions of course, but we're not quite there yet
