Toronto is Canada's largest city. Though not super huge in surface area on its own compared to NYC or Tokyo, it has steadily expanded and subsumed nearby cities until they've all merged into one continuous megacity called the Greater Toronto Area that's one of the largest continuous urban sprawls on the planet. This single area contains almost half of the country's population, but because Canada's population density on average is so low, it's actually one of the least populous global megacities.

Canada's weird population distribution makes it absurdly easy to find someone, especially because areas like the GTA are extremely regionalized by immigrant populations and the fact that they're technically distinct but interconnected cities. Just mentioning a local restaurant basically gives your neighbourhood away to anyone else living there.
