Did you consider changes in the ranked distribution ?

https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/season-8-ranked

As of 1/21/2021, we have the following distribution among players in Split 2 who played more than 5 hours of Ranked (versus Season 6):

(...)

4.37% Diamond (1.89%)
0.20% Master & Apex Predator (0.12%)

In season 6, to get diamond 4 you needed to be a top 2 % player. We have no clear data, but we can hazard a guess how it was split. It could be like this :

1.89 -1.5 % - D4
1.5 - 1 % - D3
1 - 0.5 - D2
0.5 - 0.12 - D1

In season 7 , to get diamond 4, you need to be a top 4.37 % player, so perhaps diamond is split like this :

4.37 - 3 - D4
3 - 2 - D3
2 - 1. - D2
1 - 0.2 - D1

Have you noticed what this means if someone remained in the same position, lets say top 1 % exactly, between both seasons ?

Im not saying this happened by the way. Im just saying you need to know the ranked distrubition better before making any claims. (And we actually dont know the precise one right now) It was a huge discussion in CSGO and LoL communities, CSGO had a large change to ratings one day, and LoL had a smaller but still noticeable shift a few years back. Context matters. You can have the exact same rank between seasons but be objectively in a different position on the ladder, or you can have a very different rank and be in the same spot on the ladder .

Revenant Aqua now btw
