>do the composers/writers get royalties on sales too
They don't, only on "relicensing" aka other artists covering the songs

>>42174622
>Aren't they the owners of the songs instead of just performers?
See >>42174686. The whole concept of "royalties" is only related to the secondary market, other people using your work (lyrics, melody) to create a new product.
In Holo's case, when they're funding the whole thing, the girls happen to be the owners of the work tho so, for any sale of the **work itself**, they'll get the lion's share.

That is the same for movies, btw. Actors get fuck all except whatever salary they negotiate in their contracts but screenwriters and score composers get royalties
One of the SMARTEST persons in the whole movie industry is
>Alec Guiness

All the way back in the late seventies he was invited to take part in a more or less experimental movie by a young director
He said more or less
>FUCK IT, YOU GUYS CAN'T AFFORD ME
>PAY ME 2% OF THE GROSS REVENUE OF THE MOVIE OR GTFO

The director, George Lucas, said something to the effect of
>to get you on board I'll put 0.25 percent out of my pocket too

Here is how it turned out
>the movie grossed $300 million in its initial release — earning Guinness more than $7 million immediately ($33 million today) and an estimated $95 million by the time of his death

The performer (actor, singer) usually gets fuck all unless he negotiates himself a good contract from the getgo.
