I've seen this happen time and time again. There's this anime character, a nerd girl, so relatable, anons fall in love with her for being LITERALLY ME. That alone isn't so bad yet, but then they try to go after those types girls irl. Reality quickly hits hard, they find, just because she's like them doesn't mean she's going to like them, and those girls crave charismatic and capable chads just like any other. After that they spiral back into even worse shut-in than they were before until they find a new literally me character.
Break the cycle, embrace wizardry, 2D is the way to be.
