Shondo has moments where she jumps from being dumb to being some kind of genius. It's extremely weird, she doesn't seem to have a middle ground. She's very emotionally intelligent too even if she's very naive towards others intentions. She thinks everyone is good even though she can understand others problems and perspectives pretty well for a sheltered hikkineet.
I don't know much about Rael though, but I think Shondo is probably smarter than you'd think at a glance.
