He really is smart at marketing. His main policy was - if I have good emotes, people will spam it in other channels and it will attract more people. And they are good(unlike most other channel's), you can see his emotes everywhere. He is also good in creating memes as well.
He is also know for gifting himself a lot of subs (for example, 5k on his birthday) so people get his emotes for free and either will get used to them and resub OR/AND will use them thus adversing him.
Did I mention that he has a smurf twitch channel that people also sub to, so he double dips in subs and emotes?
Of course, that only works because he is genuinely entertaining and good at his job (streaming).
