It's a decent cover shooter with an okay story. Definition of mediocre. The way it integrated mechancis like controlling squad members with abilities by slowing down time, and retianing the concepts of half and full cover was neat.

Most of the hate/distain comes from the promotional material and how it ended up almost nothing like it.
