I hope you know that "soundproofing" isn't really sound-proof. It can dull a lot of the noise at certain frequencies, but plenty will still vibrate and leak right through the wall/windows/door/whatever you're trying to isolate.

So I'm spitballing an idea to work voice changing into my gimmick. Idea is that my character would be a boring, monotonous dude (that is, me) possessed by a smarmy low-level demon who wants to use vtubing to spread chaos and disorder. He's not very good at it, though.

I think it's a bit more subtle than you think. The phonemes for several English sounds (L most specifically and infamously) simply don't exist in Japanese, so if you never learned how to make the noise as a kid (when you have that weird learning speed buff we all spawn with), it's difficult to figure out how to recreate it as an adult, as you never just idly recreated the noises your parents and adults in general were making near you.
Same reason why shit like trilling or rolling Rs just doesn't come naturally to English speakers, or the glottal R of French or similar languages. We never made those noises as kids, so most of us have difficulty making them as adults, unless we make a conscious effort or spend inordinate amounts of time repeating it till we can kinda sorta make it naturally.

As a meta observation: This really shows how much Friend "gets" the entire aspect of how to maximize vtubing. Immediately turns the situation into a clippable moment, knowing that it will just feed the algorithm with more short-form consumable content that will eventually lead people to her full, normal channel. I know she's not the only one who 'plays for the camera', but definitely one of the best in HL at doing so.

How do I say this without seeming like too much of a freeloader... while I absolutely understand and support the idea of supply and demand, and I don't particularly mind if the really good creators start pumping up their prices, it is ever so slightly frustrating that, because Vtubing has been on the incline, Live2D artists are now comfortable with raising their prices more and more because for every poorfag filtered out, they'll get some vtweeter paypig who never ends up using the model shelling out however much they ask for.
Shit like this just makes me think that we're gonna reach a critical mass where the ONLY new people that aren't debuted with an agency that actually covers the cost themselves will be passionless dickheads who just happen to have the money to blow on a L2D model. By that point, the bubble will have burst once and for all.
