Nips have lots of translation issues, which is usually the "it's not even translated" part of it.
Many western classic games never got translated in Japanese, even though they were really popular in the West.
That, or they get completely fucked over by game publishers.
The most infamous example is probably Square Enix making them PAY for a japanese translation of Tomb Raider as DLC.
It took them many years and lots of complain for them to make it free (although at that point, everyone stopped giving a shit).
Also, Sega loves to straight up block games in Japan as well.
