She had a bit of a rocky past in the competitive FPS gaming. Without spilling too much to become doxxing, she was in a gamer group but got the really shit end of the stick that ended in just plain bad. Then there was a bunch of other shit like the the black company that screwed her and an old acquittance of her over, souring their relationship by a lot.
It's a surprise she's even willing to once again reach out to people and why she streams almost always alone, as well as why she's so afraid of everything.

This being her first time actually working with others that she don't know too well, as well as not doing so well as she hoped, probably is triggering her bad memories and inferiority complex. Uto is basically Aqua, except not completely socially inept but close to.

It's such a long winded mess. The best I can do is maybe summarize it but it's still long and hard to follow.

Uto used to stream with a still image, before she actually debuted. After her debut she gain more traction because her artist was Nabi, the same as Amelia Watson's, so alot of her new viewers were overseas (mostly EOPs, SEAs and a few not West Taiwains). However it was also speculated that during this time she might have already joined some weird shadow company who told her to not talk about them and to say about herself as an independent. There was truth in this cause many times she would say that she would get in trouble if she keep saying something (like when she was talking about her favorite Holomems) and a few streams where she had to privatize (Her Sekiro stream, but this might be more because she was very popular at the time)

Then there was also the narrative of how she gotten popular by being a leech because alot of her thumbnails were similar to Hololive's, as well as a bunch of artwork based on said Hololive (speculated that they were requested) and the fact that her videos were chuck full of Hololive tags. It should be known that during this time as well, her twitter was written differently and that it might have been managed by someone else. When the whole tag thing came out, although it was yab, most people ignored it and she did apologized and stopped doing it afterwords but by then there was already alot of rumors swirling around her.

On 5ch they started digging up tons of info on her, about her past life and all that mostly about how she used to be in a group but had a bad falling out due to internal problems. 5ch also started to get mad cause at the time, Uto was doing very well. Her streams were at the same time as the usual ENs (usually around 10pm-12am), which they started to believe that she might be using this time slot to specifically steal viewers from said ENs(mostly Gura and Amelia, although in truth Uto's biggest paypigs were Deadbeats). This prompts alot more defensive Holofags and 5ch schizo cause at the time, Uto's average view was about 4-6k, with a total of over 200k subs in a matter of 2 weeks after her debut and gaining about 10k per stream. It also didn't help that a ton of trolls started spamming Uto related stuff on Holo generals in 5ch boards, fanning the flames by mocking how Amelia was getting btfo and that Uto was on par with surpassing even the newly made HoloID at the time and was catching up with the lowest subbed official Holo (which was Nene). Ollie and Anya having appeared in her chat didn't help in the matter.

So anyway, over at 5ch they began to wipe themselves up in a frenzy. For them they didn't really care too much about Uto in general but they're defensive when it comes to Hololive since over there, Nijisanji is still a bigger thing and the tribalwar is much worse in comparison to ours. So there were many that was apprehensive at the idea of some unknown indie who seemingly have no backing whatsoever able to compete so well with their oshi, that she was able to do so well that they start to suspect that there was some undercurrent foul play at hand. Narratives were thrown all over the place that she was in a company or something, and they were partly right since there were signs that she couldn't have been indie (one being that Nabi, her artist, don't accept personal request). More and more stuff started to be digged up and eventually the rrat was that Uto was created by some Chinese company as an attempt to hurt Hololive. Given her circumstance, many of them believed this due to her scheduling, her base which was 90% overseas and Uto now become something of a yab, comparable to the dumb bitch who was shitposting about Hololive but got foundout when her IP got leaked. Now most of 5ch got really mad cause they definitely don't want Uto to have anything to do with Hololive or hell be even anywhere near them.

Then the big yab happen when it was revealed that Uto might have ghosted an artist. Before her debut she was friends with an artist and the artist did a few artwork for her and Uto did commission some work, but they didn't really have any contract or any set payment. The artist tried to contact Uto but didn't get any response and until very later but when they talked they had a bit of a falling out, the artist him (or her, not sure) got mad cause from their conversation they felt as if Uto was being condescending. Although Uto paid her, the artist felt disrespected and decided to post their entire conversation log online which sparked a shitstorm that connected with whatever already shitstorm was already spewing on 5ch. This was made worse when an actual well-known dramafag with an actual fanbase latched on to it like a parasite and everything got blown the fuck out. Ton of people(mostly JPs) started spamming her videos and stuff, causing her to have to take a break.
