Since it’s dead hours here for now, I wanted to bring something up. Not that anyone was talking about it in particular, but it’s good to put it into perspective sometimes since I vividly remember a lot of people doomposting during the fortnite/devour streams.

So Gura’s past 4 vods have all failed to reach the 2 hour mark. This is expected with the game choices, but it often comes at the cost of vods due to the length of time. But in some cases, those missing 15-20 minutes can have a drastic effect on the streams of big talents, and it often goes unnoticed by people since they specifically look at just the views. So lets use some shoddy math for a moment. Mind you, this is absolutely inconsistent math since you can’t do exact measurements on vods that’ve been days old and have picked up vod watcher views, so I’m gonna use an example of one during processing.

Gura’s recent VR stream is sitting at 363k views over the course of a little over 2 days. A pretty amazing feat in itself, but some might say “it should have 400k by now!!” Etc. The type of stuff seen with other vods. So here is the vod during processing where it hit 301k. I’m absolutely aware of it being higher as the day goes on, but lets just use this as the example.

In this context, Gorn is getting a little over 2870 views a minute. If we multiplied that by 15 (the time it’d take for the vod to reach 2hrs/120 minutes) that comes out to 43k. 43k views added to the current 363k would put it over 400k.

Again, this is obviously shoddy math. It doesn’t take into account what’s happening on the stream or any of those variables that’d alter how many people are actually tuning in, but the views per minute are still relevant in figuring out where a vod -at least- could be if just a few more minutes were streamed. This is just so people recognize themselves the stream length and how much even 20 minutes off a vod could do. I mean, it’s quite literally 1/3rd of an hour, so it has a large effect on totals.
