- Actually having the worst model. Makes me forget about Gura's rigging fiasco.
+ Actually having experience with the anisong industry, so good enough if Cover goes into anime.
+/- Personality is basically sudued like Ina, but lacking the puns.
- Singing is nowhere near what I expect. At most she is only comparable to other holos. Vsingers like Hachi still leave holos in the dust.
- Hololive is betting the world on Irys, with an animated MV and 3 originals right for debut. All the useless money could have been spent on actually scouting a professional singer instead of an anisong meme with no formal training. Gaming skills can be taught in months, but singing takes way longer.

Irys still sang exclusively JP songs and her streaming time is aimed at both JP and EN. She is probably also in Japan. I'm not sure you can flip a switch and have the company turn from JP conventions in an instance, or that they even bother with that much.

Keep in mind that Irys, while not exactly the next coming of Whitney Houston, would be a virtually indistinguishable drop-in replacement for singers of anime OPs and EDs. In other words, she is good enough. In recordings, she can perform mythroid songs just fine, as those songs aren't exactly opera-level demanding, and there is always editing. That can prove useful if hololive branches into anime, and her experience in working with anisong composers may have been a factor in hiring.

There is the possibility that she was actually the best singer among the applicants in terms of skill, but somehow I doubt that. Another possibility often raised is that the suits were convinced by her popularity. Hololive doesn't always pick the most popular person (many holos were virtually unknown before their hiring), but maybe the high level of capital investment this time requires them to pick someone safe and popular instead of unproven. Probably only Yagoo would know, but he isn't likely to say anything in public except positive praise.

Terrible model. Fan art will consistently be better than the actual thing.
Good anisong voice, perfectly okay for idol songs and jpop, but not a knock-out singer like Hachi which I had hoped for. It's also not really that unique a voice, either. Like she would not stand out among NijiEN.
The bright side is that there will be more hololive music.
