For my meme characters I'd have the players chose from Joan D'Arc (lawful good fighter), The Doctor (pacifist chaotic good rouge), Ms. Frizzle (chaotic neutral wizard), Robin Hood ( neutral good ranger), and Tai Lung (lawful evil monk) but that's my autism.
Your players will probably want to make their own characters, and that's literally half of the fun of DND so let them. Almost any kind of build can get through this dungeon so let them go crazy and just adjust the difficulty as necessary. Remember the great words of Reggie: "If it's not fun, why bother?"

So the argument boils down to either pay a flat sum, or pay royalties.

Also the guy is a retard. My 2D model (Currently in works, not rigged) cost me 150 dollars flat. If the retard wants to pay more for an uglier 3D model that's his problem.
