The benefit might not seem immediate (like for example "you can play this game right now"). But the result is that small times content creators don't pander to Europe and makes Yuroes second class to Americans and East Asia. Good example in recent times is Kiara and the Koreans.

Japan has the culture of paying premium dollar for content they like. This is why the indy scene (be it music, games or movies) can charge top dollar and get away with it (60$ albums). You might thing they're suckers for doing it, but it's why Japan has been able to generate so much niche culture compared to the rest of the world.
The US tipping culture and the Japanese culture of paying a lot of shit you like might seem like a suckers behavior on an individual level, but it has created niches and hobbies and many forms of entertainment that are top tier. And no, the European is not a Machiavellian mastermind that enjoys things for free. He's a second-class viewer that needs to accommodate himself to US/JP taste, otherwise there aren't even scraps left for him.
All of that being said, there are good EU indies.

Indefinite hiatus to focus on art. Doubt we'll see a reincarnation, just like with Anya. Given that the AtoLives are almost all pro artists, I don't think any of them would be reincarnating if they do graduate.

Not him, but I can barerly stand VShojo. They're good at what they do, but their brand of humor just puts me off.
For the EN indy the only ones I can say are solidly good are Nina, Koopa and Kani Kanizawa. Which is surprising, since I wasn't expecting good EN vtuber to have appeared already.
