The viewer gain metric is pretty pointless as it only tracks new viewers, as in people who watched your stream for the first time. When you incline the number jumps, and as soon as you stagnate or decline it plummets because the people watching you are no longer new viewers. Even if you have 10,000 people watching you every day.
It's only real value is seeing the influence that short-term events have on viewership, like seeing how many new viewers were gained because of a collab or big event. But even that is reflected in other stuff like follower count.
I just used this guy because its hyperbolic, but Shylily's for example dropped by 5 million this year.
