I think it was more obvious before they went public, when they clearly evened out their dividends for the week.
Right now a lot of the transfers goes towards [造当主] in a bid to beat the #1 spot, and will likely stop after it's taken and stable. The same player pays a lot in taxes to solidify their dividends so they can keep their place in the future. Other than that, their money transfers still even out their liquid, so the ranks of zaibatsu players are coming closer together. That can be easily seen from the outside.
I think that whoever posted the ROI report said it was incomplete and they are working on a better one... but if you want to see if the zaibatsu makes a difference for its members, you'd have to look at a situation in which those same players aren't in the zaibatsu, which is difficult given that we can only observe what is.
