>you start making small talk, and her cheerfulness and energy affect you more and more, making you smile and feel less empty
>you start meeting her more often in the same place, studying together and exchanging pointers and encouragement
>you learn that she is from a numerous but poor christian family
>she is an history major who studies hard thanks to a scholarship, and her dream is becoming an accomplished professor and have someday a family with lots of children
>when she isn’t studying, she is working part time as warehouseman, where she learned how to use a forklift
>you honestly don’t understand some stuff she says sometimes, but you make an effort, if only because she does the same to your ramblings and makes you happy in turn
>time goes on quickly with her, and your relationship with her deepens to the point the attraction is clear to both of you
>you are hesitant to ask her out, since you are inexperienced for the most part, but eventually you manage to stammer out your feelings and ask for a date
>she is surprised, but quickly blushes and accept, happiness clear in her face
>the rest of week is a storm, but what it matters is that the date goes well: it’s full of awkwardness, but your efforts come through and you officially get together
>your halcyon days are spent in your college halls, each one of them filled with difficulties and sacrifices, and yet fulfilling thanks to her presence and support - you both become a pillar to each other
>eventually, by the time you both end your studies, you finally decide to pop the questions, ask her to become yours forever
>it’s a quiet affair, romantic and maybe a little cheesy, but not overbearing, as you know she would dislike it, modest as she is
>you take the knee, open the box and wait - the ring shines, and you heart threatens to explode out of your chest as you try to keep meeting her gaze
>she seems to take some seconds to process the whole thing, but eventually tears spill out of her eyes and she happily screams, shouting her acceptance over and over again while jumping on you, dragging you on the floor while hugging you
>you eyes meet, and you kiss her slowly, gently and tenderly, and you know, in that moment, that everything is all right in your world
