The only way I can see this dumb joke working is if it was more than just "Dinosaur is bird lol", and was instead more along the lines of Rex constantly wearing fake feathers and trying to sneak into the birds only club despite being twelve times their size and everyone being visibly uncomfortable with the presence of a giant reptilian carnivore that sticks out like a sore thumb. Then again, that would be too on the nose and hit too close to home for a certain crowd.
