Looking further into the dynamic of performer, character, and performance the structuring of kayfabe becomes all the more critical. The simple wedge of “I forgot what color Foxy is…” is a driving emotive force of questioning into Lia. The various reads could play out in a variety of ways. The ditz explanation explaining the lapse is most immediate and satisfying giving the endearing quality only to further boost the response by her immediate return to higher spirits. Leaning further into the “I forgot” framing and taking the next step to explore her mindset that, perhaps, there if simply too much of a hyper focus on Freddy for her to remember the other characters is a redoubling sense of satisfaction at just how much enjoyment she gets from the series. At the deeper end of the interpretation though we begin to get into the more subversive elements of “doubt” and the cornerstone characteristic of the Lia character and vtuber medium as a whole being “Faith”. Over analyzing the moment creates that itching sense of doubt that the entire presentation is sincere. That perhaps even her entire infatuation with FNAF is in fact a skit tied to her performance and a demographic hook to further reinforce her appeal. It would be a bit absurd to flat out “forget your line” when it comes to entry level trivia about the property but it fits as a dubious slip of the mask to reinforce the subversive control she has over her character. It’s a really satisfying, utterly insignificant moment, repeated twice for posterity in the stream of her performance that acts as a subtle firewall towards digging too deep into Lia. The spiraling doubt manifest from the potentiality creates a bit of cognitive fallout that jerks the entire parasocial bent of the experience around and demands from the viewer to embrace the cynicism of her on screen interest being a muddled mix of passing professionally exploitable interest or the Faith reaffirming doubling down on her commitment to the Freggy Superfan aspect of Lia. This of course goes without saying the preloaded “I’ve never played the game”/not installed rrat lurking in her broader FNAF experience. The intoning of the parallel absurdity of a “9 hour lore video” when at least that much time has been spent on Lia in the past week further stings at the back of one’s mind. Protecting one’s interest in Lia of course demands that the hyper focus on Freddy and FNAF be affirmed as that perfect midground between performer and character interest resulting in an even more fanatical belief in the extreme aspects of Lia. Really just an outstanding moment crafted by Lia there showing once again why she is the only Lia who will ever love you.
