What makes all of this whole thing so fucking actually-toxic, is that there is an unspoken incentive for some of the fans to try to one-up the other fans if they see the chance, to try to elevate their status/position/get noticed by their oshi. In which case, they think they'll be liked more by their oshi if they're a pure yesman and shit on any non-yesmen to elevate themselves over them. They want to be front of the pecking order. This also explains shit like Ayame or Rushia.

So, there is incentive for some chumbuds to be yesmen and do everything they can to try to validate Gura no matter how fucking stupid and irrational it is, because in their minds they're winning if they're the last one left anyway, as opposed to actually-being a loser for sticking with an oshi 99% of everyone else thinks went to shit and ditched. They think, it's at this point, they win the game basically. But they don't. They just get either a polite "thank you for supporting me" before the girl quits or worse the girl will finally take off the mask when it doesn't matter anymore and humiliate that last mega-ultra-simp (happens with twitch thots etc).

Although as was said I wonder how they'll successfully detect all VPNs. They can catch a lot of them but not all of them as that's basically impossible. Still though it probably would dissuade a lot of people from trying too hard to get around it.

What I think it might do however would turn what were 500 ARS SCs into $0 SCs because the dude wouldn't want to donate a tiny amount in pokemon dollars for all to see instead of at least get an akasupa in. Cheapskates were already cheap and leveraging ars to make their like $5 go somewhere, so they probably just won't give that $5 anymore because then it's just an ordinary chat that will never be acknowledged. This won't really make a meaningful dent really however since most SCs aren't clearly VPN'ed in and we were always talking couch change amounts anyway. Or at least, this won't matter much for Holos... for Luxiem however where possibly the majority of their Youtube income comes in from chinese on VPNs? Ouch.
