Western follows are worthless, this is a common scenario. Nemu, for example, has 21k followers and gets ~300 concurrent views per stream. Much better, but still less than 2% retention. On Twitch especially, people typically follow a stable of a few dozen streamers who they like, and watch maybe two or three of them regularly. If anything, the younger and smaller a streamer is, the better their viewer retention.
