It's not really the same situation, but back during Miko's 3 month health hiatus, she was gaining subs at about the same, if not slightly higher pace than Suisei and they both passed Sora.

It is similar in that both had a surge of very popular clips and videos before their break.
Add to that how many members keep telling stories about them and their "brand" kept growing despite the lack of streams.

Plus, instantly recognizable face and voice.
