Glad to hear you're taking the feedback and working off it. I would actually suggest working through the previous 2 chapters a little bit and maybe give them a tune up. Give a little more background to the academy and how Sora is basically signing up to be placed and act for her country should it be necessary. It's okay that there aren't grander higher level stakes this early, but the stakes as far as Sora knows them should be apparent. She traveled for several days on foot to get here, is her country one that is at risk of war? Would she have seen or noticed anything on her trip? That kinda stuff is good to keep in mind. Also towards the idea of gearing Sora toward a specific outfit, you can have Botan remark on possibly the width of Sora's build or frame in general that might make her fit to be an excellent horseback rider if trained. Or even Sora's past experience with animals could be enough for Botan to put a little more stake in her, just have it mentioned and she can start putting the pieces together.
