that's where you're wrong, female otaku are the ones purchasing stickers keychains and cards en masse if there's a male on it, there is a reason you only ever see merch collages from women, very rarely from men. itabagging, purchasing a clear file bag to display a shit ton of merch, is a majority female otaku hobby. plus, the fact that shounen anime merch like summer themed wallscrolls with the boys in swimsuits, paired keychains, plushes, etc. those are not merchandise aimed at men only. that's more for the women. the "create your own content" side of fandom is how the west copes with JP's shipping prices.
