Why doesn't she just get a security detail if going to big events? Hell, not even a bunch of buff dudes strapped with guns, just some friends / trusted acquaintances would create a more than sufficient safety net. Mix in 3 guys with 3 girls, make it a natural grouping so fans that approach can see she's not too different IRL from everyone else.

It's not hard to deal with most fans. If they approach, greet them warmly, give them an autograph / keychain / hug, and politely tell them it is nice to meet fans and that they shouldn't make too big a deal of it. Let them know their effort to notice her is appreciated.

And yes, I can see most posts here are terrified that someone might wind up being a Mark Chapman, but those incidents are extraordinarily rare.

Poor Calli has really gotten herself in a bit of a jam with her career choices. If she drops the job, she gets the Kiara treatment and gets booted back to her homeland; her music is her passion, so that's not going anywhere; vtubing is how she makes any real money, so she can't drop that either (not even mentioning it would devastate her genmates, Gura and Kiara in particular).

I've criticized the holos plenty for their foibles and fuckups, but dumping on poor pinky makes me feel absurdly guilty. Her dilemma is uniquely difficult in terms of finding a solution. The optimal outcome would be Cover putting in the legwork and getting her some kind of permanent residency (or hell, even Japanese citizenship, if waito piggus can even get that?) so she can drop the wageslaving and split her time between her music and vtubing. If that happened, we'd see a very, very different reaper for sure.

Everything came rushing back. Thoughtless-moment-of-death regained its mind. The reaper regained their humanity. Mori Calliope recognized the voice of someone she loved. She found herself in infinite nothing, nothing alive, nothing moving. Except of course for a very confused little shark. As Calli’s personality began manifesting so did her body, and eventually she was standing right behind Gura, scythe against the spell protecting her neck. The visual was uncomfortably familiar. Gura, by sheer force of will and her eventual magic mastery had been the last of the girls left. The moment Calli reaped her was the moment she abandoned the persona of Calli, to avoid the grief.

As the Scythe left its perch, Gura felt arms wrap around her and tears upon her shoulder. They sat like that for a while. Eventually Calli pulled back and Gura turned around in her arms, looking up at the reaper’s puffy red eyes.

“Heya Calli.” And Gura put all her strength into returning the hug.

“Guh, look at me. Getting all weepy. I’m sorry I…”

“You big dummy. Stop apologizing. Glad to see you know me. When are we? I’m assuming the far future?”

“Yeah. No clue how many years it would be, but I’m all that’s here anyways.”

“Oh jeez, are you actually? That’s uh…”

“Yeah, it’s hella lonely, but I wasn’t a person for most of it.”

Gura remembered Calli talking about how much it hurt her that she would one day have to stop being Calli, and it was her turn to cry
