Well you seem to have the wrong impression here, you low test beta retard, so let me spell it out for you.

Women are trash, but men biologically need to feel a level of interaction with the opposite sex to get a sense of belonging. But because we know women are trash, we don't want to deal with the downsides of being attached to one for long periods of time since we just know we're going to get burned. Either through previous experience or just instinct.

A waifu is a good choice because it gives your heart a female to focus on. But you're waifu is completely attached to her script. She can't have a dynamic conversation with you, and everything that happens in your headcanon is just that, unofficial headcanon. You can shape her into anything you want, but at that point she's no longer the original 2D girl you fell for.

Vtubers bridge that gap. I can feel an emotional attachment to a real woman and get many of the benefits while suffering from none of the drawbacks. I know the girl behind the avatar and her avatar are completely separate, but while she's playing the part I am invested. For some vtubers this almost seems like a non-existing distinction but that's a topic for some other time. But they're dynamic, they have life stories to share and their interactions with one-another make you feel like you're a part of the group to some extent.

Point is, I get to support someone and see them grow, enjoy themselves and have fun while taking no responsibility for their well-being beyond the few bucks I pay for my subscription of the goods I buy. I get to be there for some of their life's most important accomplishments, things they've worked towards or dreamed of forever. Yeah, there's no sex or individual attention, no physical skinship, but for everything, there's a trade-off. This is the emotional and financial equivalent of a pump-and-dump.

Do I care if she's getting railed by some guy? No, because once that woman detaches from her avatar I am no longer invested. In fact, imagine being that guy and realizing that you will never be able to financially support your girl to the same level that a few thousand lonely fucks on the Internet can. Sure, she might have sex with him, but he's never going to be the man of the house.

Who's doing the cucking here?
