The purple line is the only real checkpoint in the map. Any time you're below it, you can quite easily fall all the way to the beginning. Any time you're above it, you can quite easily fall all the way to the purple line.

The true cruelty of this DLC is that green X above the purple line. That is a jump that if you overshoot slightly, will take you below the purple line, into the first half of the map where you are once again at risk of falling to the beginning. Every time you end up back at the purple checkpoint, you have to go through that green X jump.
