My most important insight is that there is much overlap between vtubers streaming and occult practices of communing with spirits. For example consider this snippet from Jason Miller's "Consorting with Spirits". This is part of a larger ceremony of giving offerings to deities and local spirits

>To all sentient beings in all the ten directions and three times
>to beings of the elements, and all who wander the surface of the earth
>I give offerings of substance and nourishment

Of course, your oshi welcomes you in a similar way when you watch her stream. So my thesis is twofold:
1. If you only watch streams then you are an insignificant spirit doomed to wander cyberspace alone and doomed to be shut out of your oshi's personal life
2. By communing with spirits you can expand your social life and find an outlet for your loneliness.
