This is why I just don't take anything on the Internet seriously. It's also a level of narcissism granted by having a platform you wouldn't in a natural world. If perpetually online twitard/plebbit/4chan schizo types didn't have the Internet, people would shit on them to their faces whenever they're being sanctimonious and their perceived "truth" is brought down by people disagreeing with them to their faces. It's an environment of cowardice and the inability to accept being wrong, inability to be humble, inability to learn from and respect the rights other people have to their perspectives, provided their perspectives aren't libelous, slanderous, or just factually wrong. They would be forced to be humbled for basically being the village idiot when most people just don't care about the eggshells they want the rest of the village to walk on for the sake of their views. Being online perpetually exacerbates this condition in three ways:

1. Their perceptions are skewed when they perceive many people are in agreeance with them, when in reality they are simply in a bubble, because if they said half the shit they said online to people IRL, they'd get shot down by anyone who doesn't buy bullshit.

2. They lack the breadth of experience of living in the real world, where people don't have the time or energy to deal with moral grandstanding, as the problems they have to deal with are real problems, like familial health, financial stability, government overreach, etc, not some fight over some dumb Internet bullshit.

3. They become narcissistic because their skewed perception is given an aura of authority, because a loud, vocal minority will work with them to spread their message when most people in the real world just don't give a shit.

The reality is, most people just aren't as important as they believe they are, and the environments that have been fostered make them believe they are. The other reality is, people grandstand to look like they are good people, but if they really believed in a lot of the things they espouse, they would do their due diligence and realize that their world is built on hypocrisies they can't overcome. Nobody's going to pay twice the amount they do for their tech to have it sourced in a morally just manner, just as most people aren't going to stop watching entertainment because those that produce it in a lot of instances have dubious affiliations and funding Weinstein, Hollywood/Music Industry pedophilia and sexual abuse that people like Elijah Wood and Chester Bennington have talked about albeit muted, for example, most people aren't going to source their food from ethical sources as it's more expensive, and countless other examples. They are crusaders without a real cause, because all the real causes are just too hard to fight, and in lot of cases actually likely to put you and your loved ones in danger.

I honestly miss the 90's and my childhood. It's just the truth that it was better times in general for most people, my grandparents could leave their doors unlocked where they lived and not worry, we kids were give enough autonomy to just live and enjoy life, go out on adventures, see the world with our eyes and feel it with our hands, and make real connections with people. I remember when dial up would stop working whenever someone was on the phone, or setting up meetings with friends over the landlines. I remember when getting together and biking/skating to the arcade was something you'd just do all the time rather than just a novelty. I remember camping with friends, being actually excited whenever we got to visit and explore places. You can still do that today but the environment is so different with people, and most of my friends are old like me and have their own things they have to focus on, like their spouses and children, or taking over family businesses, etc. Those friends though? Still the people I talk to everyday. Still people I play games with when we have the time, still people I fly out to visit whenever we can make the time to spend together.

Sorry for my Ted Talk/Ojisan grumbling.
